Heed — Statement Analyser

1. What you're agreeing to
By installing or using Heed ("the app") you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, don't use the app. These terms apply to the free tier and to any paid subscription tier offered through Google Play.
2. What the app does
Heed analyses text you provide using a rule-based engine that runs on your device. Future paid features may add AI-powered analysis through a backend proxy. See the Privacy policy for details on data handling.
3. Investigative aid only — not a lie detector
Heed surfaces linguistic indicators associated with deception research frameworks (SCAN, SVA / CBCA, Reality Monitoring). Output is an investigative aid:
- It is not evidence of truthfulness or deception.
- It is not a substitute for professional assessment by trained investigators, psychologists, or legal counsel.
- The empirical validity of the underlying frameworks (SCAN especially) is contested in academic literature.
You agree not to rely on Heed's output as a sole basis for any decision that materially affects another person — hiring, legal action, custody, accusations, or similar.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the app to harass, defame, or threaten any person.
- Submit text you do not have the right to process (e.g. private communications obtained without consent in jurisdictions where that would be unlawful).
- Attempt to reverse engineer, scrape, or abuse the paid-tier AI proxy beyond fair-use limits.
- Resell or sublicense the app or its output without permission.
5. Subscriptions and billing
Paid subscriptions are managed by Google Play, not by us. Billing, renewals, refunds, and cancellations follow Google Play's standard terms. You can cancel any active subscription from the Google Play Store at any time; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current paid period.
Pricing shown in the app reflects regional Play Store pricing. Subscription tiers and limits (analyses per month, character cap) are subject to change with prior notice; existing subscribers will not be downgraded mid-period.
6. No warranty
The app is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the app is error-free, that the rule engine output is accurate, or that the app will be available without interruption.
7. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of your use of the app — including but not limited to damages resulting from decisions you made based on the app's output.
Where liability cannot be excluded by law (for example, certain consumer rights in your jurisdiction), our total liability is limited to the amount you paid for the app in the twelve months preceding the claim.
8. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms when the app's functionality, pricing, or legal obligations change. Material changes will be announced in-app and reflected by a new effective date above. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
